Kevin Magnussen has been confirmed to partner with Mick Schumacher for the 2022 season and beyond. Haas parted ways with former driver Nikita Mazepin due to conflicts with Ukraine and Russia. As stated previously, Haas's most likely options were Fittipaldi (their reserve), or Piastri. No one expected him to come back to the sport.

The 29-year-old was called sometime last week by Haas team principal Guenther Steiner, who offered him an opportunity to come back to the team. According to Magnussen, his immediate response was "Absolutely, let's do it." The team has the rising talent of Mick with the experience of Magnussen. This is should serve them better than two rookies. Both Magnussen and Steiner left on very good terms in 2020. The contract was terminated then because the team needed two people with money so they could focus on building a good car. In an ideal, they would have preferred to keep Magnussen, but due to money issues, they couldn't.

Now, it has also been confirmed that the contract is a multi-year long contract. The extraordinary fact about all 0f this is that Magnussen flew to Bahrain he had no idea if this was really going to happen. He signed the contract the day before Official Pre-testing started in Barcelona.
